Muthu Curry: By far one of the best Indian cuisine i had so far. In this well furnished & odourless restaurant was waitors equiped with PDA taking orders and the overall ambience boasts a very high class feeling.
Masala prawns, Tandoori mushrooms, non spicy coconut chicken and Papadum. Yum yum..
Last stop was Mustafa shopping centre, with the walk there alone helps us digest most of the coconut fullness. Our quest for the day was somewhat it's Supermarket and it was finally discovered at the righthand corner at the 2nd floor! Ironically although Indians swarmed the market, its very clean and tidy. Even the Fish Monger area is dry and is free of fishy stench. A shame to SG folks making all major supermarkets as though they are kopi tiam toilet bowls.
Bangkok is the heaven for shopping, and with good reason. Prices are low, quality generally high and the range and variety is huge. Shopping experience in Thailand is an attraction by itself.
BKK outdoor markets are almost the cheapest way to shop, however prices aren't many times what they should be.
Travelling with Tiger Airways, very punctual.
Hotel's breakfast buffet.
Road side stalls outside Grand Diamond hotel.
Seafood spread, it's colour looks alluring.
Chinatown's road side stall selling fatty pork knuckles.
Thailand's Tuk Tuk.
Slumps in BKK, no street lights or drainage facilities whatsoever.
One of BKK cross river pier Tha Tien Pier.
Platinum mallThis is where we do most of the shopping due to the close proximity to our hotel. All of the shops there have this wholesale concept and there attitude are almost un-negotiable. Due to this we merely got 2 T-shirts at 330bhts, a skirt at 320bhts and a good buy leather strapped stainless steel pendant at 220bhts. A must try is the mango sticky rice at its 6th floor food court, only 95bhts.
So nice, we brought one more to the airport before departing. Haa..
Pratunam Market & BIG CTo us the pratunam market clothes there are older..more for aunties, very Chinatown clothes you see here. Lesser shops that sell fashionable stuff. Didn’t stay long there. BIG C is mainly for it's tidbits . Massage wise we’ve tried Indara which is 2 min walk away from 7th sense ,was told that both are under the same owner just that Indara is slightly cheaper then 7thsense. It cost us 3000bhts for 2.5hrs of Thai Herbal Scrub, Thai-Aromatherapy Body Oil & Thai Herbal Compress, not too bad.
MBK, Siam Discovery, Centralworld & Siam ParagonTheres a Skywalk linking all these shopping complex together. very convenient.
MBK is similar to far east, its top floor selling a lot of imitation clothes like Polo.
Siam Paragon departmental is the bras paradise. Yummy food is abundant at the basement and together with it is the Ocean World, quite impressive.
Had Sizzler at Siam Square. Its the same as the ones in singapore except like 3 times cheaper. We spent roughly 500bhts there with freeflow of salad & drinks, main course, and some shared side orders.
Siam paragon & Siam discovery houses many high end brands like LV and therefore it is rarely crowded.
The 4D Cineplex at Oceanworld, interesting experience.
Suan Lum Night BazzarA nice and neat Bazzar mainly selling clothes. Bargaining is no exception here and there attitudes are generally friendlier. We managed to get a pair of couple T-shirts at 330Bhts.
Chatuchak Weekend MarketThings are cheap and nice there as its humungous and messy. Really gonna dig through to find good stuff! Well prepared for the sweltering heat we spent like 3 hours weaving through the mass of stalls and from what i observe there are 3 distinct sections in the whole place. First you have the clothes and shoes and other wearable items section which forms the biggest part of the whole place. Then you have this artsy place that sells all kinds of paintings, pottery. The third section is this animal farm like place smack in the centre of the place!
Clothes there is cheap and similar to that at platinium fashion mall. Bought few T-shirts, shorts and a leather belt.
After a tiring shopping spree we took the MRT to Nuch massage at sukhumvit soi 24 beside the emporium mall at phrom phong BTS Station. Only 800bhts for 2hrs of traditional massage.
Peter Ranee TailorWe tailored made 4 shirts at 2600bhts. Fabric quality is very good and service is very fast as well, no questions and gimmicks pulled when we returned the next day to alter all 4 garments and delivered to our hotel FOC again the very day.
Grand Palace / Wat Phra Kaew / Wat Po / Wat ArunWat Phra Kaew the most important of all Temples. Here, sitting inside Wat Phra Kaew is the much revered Emerald Buddha. A symbol of the country and legends go that should the Emerald Buddha be destroyed, so will Thailand. So revered is the figurine that the Thai monarch comes every change of season to cloth the Buddha in elaborate and solemn ceremonies. The Wat comes with 3 main pagodas. Thai, Khmer and Islamic architectural styles stood next to each other, each an indication of the identity of the people that made up Thailand.
Wat Pho, also known as Wat Phra Chetuphon or The Temple of the Reclining Buddha.
Wat Arun, Just about everyone gets to Wat Arun by boat. We took the Tha Thien pier cross-river ferry, which costs 4 Baht only. The steep steps really makes our feet wobble especially the way down. Whew..
Wat Phra Kaew.
Garudas encompassing the Emerald Buddha's Temple.
The Grand Palace.
Wat Pho huge Reclining Buddha.
Wat Arun Temple of the Dawn, perhaps so named because the first light of morning is reflected off the surface of the temple with a pearly iridescence.
Scaling the steps upwards gets more challenging as the 2nd level gradient was almost like a ladder.
Yaowarat (Chinatown)Had dinner at T&K Seafood, was cheap and not too bad. Namsing Birdnest is what makes going to Yaowarat worthwhile. We tried it's best bird nest and shark fin broth, quite expensive. At its night market, we saw fried locusts, dragonflys etc..
T&K Seafood at 49-51 Phadung Dao Road.
Average standard Crab & Prawn worth only a 1 time try.
Nam Sing Birdnest Shop, just beside T&K.
The Shark Fin & Birdnest is great, especially the 冠燕 cost us 1000Bhts.
Somboon SeafoodAwesome seafood even ex-Japan premier patronize. Beware of its imitation like Somboon"DEE" Seafood which the Taxi always recommends. We had rather walk there even though its quite unaccessible. Despite so we had to wait 30mins during our 2nd visit on a Saturday.
895/6-21 Soi Chula 8, Bantadthong Rd, Wangmai, Pathumwan, Bangkok 10330.
We tried its' 3 Siganture dish of Fried Curry Crab, Tri-Flavoured deep fried grouper & Tang Hoon Prawn, excellent food and value for money as well.
Loy Nova CruiseWe are welcomed aboard the Tahsaneeya Nava by one of the traditionally attired hostesses with a rose-water sprinkling ceremony and jasmine garland presentation. Scented cool towels are offered to refresh ourselves. During our candle-lit romantic and sedate cruise along the Chao Phraya River, traditional kim music (Thai xylophone) is played gently in the background. Several non-intrusive short sets of Thai classical dancing are interspersed through the meal. Total cost 2700bhts and this is the best service we've experienced so far in BKK. Highly recommended.
Unique open air cruise on this antique rice barge.
Floral decoration abreast a dim candle light.
A scumptous spread of Seafood & Traditional thai cuisine.
Views along the cruise.
Temple of the dawn along Chao Phrya river.
Rama VIII Bridge is the U-turn point of the cruise.
Entertaining us with the Thai xylophone.
